Scotland's deficit has become much worse than the UK's over the last decade
In the years leading up to the independence referendum in 2014, Scotland's deficit was consistently similar to or worse than the UK's overall. Since then, as oil revenues have declined and public spending in Scotland has relatively increased, Scotland's deficit has diverged from the UK's and become significantly worse.
